I took my mom’s old Belna serger out of storage today. I think this machine is as old as me. I don’t think the brand is around anymore. haha. though old, it’s still a kick-ass machine! 😀 My mom still uses it now and then, especially if she has to sew my dad’s trousers. Her sewing machine is an antique Singer. It’s mounted on an wooden desk thingy with iron legs with wheels and pedal. But we don’t use the manual leg pedal. My dad powered up the Singer with an electric motor pedal. I should take a picture of the sewing machine too. I’m very lucky my mom has all these toys to fuel my crafting needs. 😀 hahaha.
look at how worn the machine is (or dirty) 😛 It’s so cool!
Anyway, I think the serger and I are gonna have lots of fun. hehe. 😀

i dunno why .. but cats seem to love yarn … no matter what kind or colour. Sonny, Chip & Mama all go crazy over yarn, except Zeek (cuz he’s the coolest cat around). lol.

It’s gonna be Chinese New Year in less than a month’s time. We usually have some must-have goodies for the festivities. Among those are pineapple tarts! I found an awesome recipe online a couple of years ago and I’ve made them a few times. Yesterday I was in the mood and decided to bake some pineapple rolls. People here call them tarts even though they are in the shape of rolls. 😛 there are open tart versions. I did mine in rolls because my pastry is the soft, flaky/breakable melt-in-the-mouth kind.
So here’s my work! 😀

doesn’t really match what i’m wearing today but i don’t care! i just want to use my new bag :p
shouldn’t have made the handles so broad 😛 they slip off my shoulder from time to time … not too bad, but still …………………………………….. owell …. if i make another one of this, that would be my note to self. :p
Pleated Crochet Bag – Part 2 (Completed!) January 13, 2010Posted by misscraftyfingers in Crafts, Crochet.

finally! the lining and zipper for my pleated crochet bag is done 😀
it was a bitch to sew the zipper onto the lining. i read a few tutorials online and improvised a little. my workmanship could be better, but i guess practice makes perfect. it was my first time sewing on a zip anyway. 😛
the lining and zipper were sewn using machine and the whole thing was hand sewn onto the crocheted work itself. my handsewing skills need more practice too. hehe. i usually sew better if i’m making the bag for others. if it’s my own, i usually do not care so much. LMAO 😛
here’s my work!
machine sewn lining …. double sided 😛 the crocheted bag was done in double crochet so if i used the flower lining, it may show through the stitches. so i used a dark blue lining on the other side 😀
attached zipper & lining! tough work!
The bag with a zipper! 😀
It is so roomy! i can put all my stuff and more!
now i can go sleep and have happy dreams! 😛
